Hello, friends!
As you are (hopefully) aware, I’m releasing The Scholarship EP on October 21st. If you’re thinking to yourself, “self, this is The Amy Hoffman we’re talking to, here. There’s no way it’s that simple. I mean, homegirl ALWAYS goes big. What’s the catch, HoffSauce?” then you, good sir or madam, have some fierce instincts. The jig is up: I will not be keeping a dime that comes of this project.
The Scholarship EP will be sold entirely by donation to benefit Missouri Scholars Academy. How, you ask? A little something we like to call “fair trade” through NoiseTrade.com. Here’s how it works:
Once the album is released, all you have to do is enter your email address, click download, and you will be sent a download link within moments. From there, you can choose to donate using the sliding “tip” bar or take the jams in exchange for spreading the word through email or the social networking platform of your choice. NoiseTrade even sets up a lovely template complete with my name and a link so you don’t have to type anything! In other words, you can run off with my music FO’ FREE if you so choose! That being said, though, let’s take a quick look at what The Scholarship EP is fighting for.
Missouri Scholars Academy is a three week residential academic summer program for gifted students in the state of Missouri. To put it simply, 330 of the Show Me State’s best and brightest rising high school juniors are given the opportunity to expand their horizons in ways that simply are not possible in their home towns and schools. Students are pushed in every facet of their lives through classes, programs, and a thriving community of learning, and are encouraged to use their intellect to live well and have a positive impact on the world - not just for the sake of accreditation and grades. As an Academy alumnus and staff member, this program has had a spectacularly profound impact on my life as well as thousands of others who have experienced it - not to mention many more who have simply come into contact with Academy affiliates.
Unfortunately, funding such a program is incredibly difficult due to budget cuts and the state of today’s economy. Even with a student activity fee and the generosity of friends, family, and alumni, the Academy’s commitment to excellence needs assistance to maintain, support, and improve its enriching, vibrant, and unique programming.
Friends, this is where we come in.
Every penny donated to this project will go directly to the Missouri Scholars Academy Development Fund. I want to emphasize that this project is totally a give what you can operation. Simply give as you are able, whether that means donating money or sharing the project with those around you. Be it a dollar or a few kind words, everything helps. Remember that spreading the word is key in making this venture a success. Together, we can make an enormous difference in keeping this incredible, innovative program running and empowering Missouri’s best and brightest high school students to dream big, aim high, and change the world - not to mention you get some pretty stellar music out the the deal as well!
